AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM: INTERACTIVE EXHIBITION

ACTION STATIONS! A physical & digital interactive play space. Working with the exhibition’s Creative Producer and curatorial team we brainstormed exhibition ideas looking at everything from Google Glass immersive realities to fairy-bread machines! Yes, quite literally, fairy-bread.

Content mapping and the physical prototype:

In the early feasibility stages of the exhibitions development I proposed ideas for the best digital platforms for each exhibition component.

Then it was down to the detail of mapping out the exhibitions content structure to meet the interpretation requirements set out by the curatorial team. Exhibition content needed to engage users from prep to retirement age and be culturally and politically sensitive. As part of the exhibition design team I lead the process of content mapping on the first physical prototype of the exhibition and from there, worked up detailed wireframes for individual digital displays.

I also worked with the museums procurement team to source and test the digital hardware for the displays. This project was a great opportunity for me to use UX methodology to design for a truly multi dimensional exhibition space that fused traditional artifacts, 3D printing and digital displays.
